Tapas + Wine = Happiness.
Seattle gets chilly, raining and dark very early in the winter months. So we decided to book a cooking class with our good friends, Bryce & Cynthia, to spice up the weekend. 'Sur la Table at Home,' is new type of culinary class where you can have a chef come to your home (Seattle is it's pilot region!). It's basicaly the "Uber" of cooking classes! We picked up some wine, lit up the fireplace and and donned our aprons.
Our chef, Tracey, was so knowledgeable and a great teacher. (her and her husband are pretty well known in the Seattle food scene too)
My kitchen in our new cottage is small (we're now living in 700 sq ft!) so there was a lot of bumping into each-other, but it made for an intimate setting. Tracey broke us up into two groups - boys and girls of course - and we got to chopping!
The final spread included: Cabrales Stuffed Dates, Classic Spanish Tortillas, Parsley Paprika Shrimp and Spicy Pork Skewers with Saffron Aioli. It's the kind of meal where you can't stop going back for seconds! (and thirds and fourths...)
And as always - a night at our house wouldn't have been complete without a game of Dominion after!
Do What You Love
I'm adding a disclaimer - I recently moved to Seattle for job on the creative team at Sur la Table (SLT). It's a fabulous company that focuses on life around the table. I enjoy cooking, canning, baking and creating so when I found a job listing at SLT I jumped on it! I'm a huge proponent of surrounding yourself with the things you love - in your home and even in your career. I just want to be transparent because I am talking about a service provided by SLT in the above post.
